WHY OE?

COMMITMENT

As a team we are committed to making your visits as comfortable and efficient as possible.  Our aim is to fully educate you on your treatment needs and offer the best possible solutions so that our work can seamlessly integrate into the rest of your dental care.  We also aim to continue our commitment beyond the endodontic therapy by offering long-term care for all our patients.

COMPASSION

We fully understand that endodontic therapy may present with anxiety and a variety of emotional challenges for any patient.  We aim to spend quality time with each individual patient and customize treatment plans that work well with the patient schedules and communicate our efforts in an empathetic and compassionate manner.

PATIENT CENTERED CARE

Our practice philosophy is focused on improving the quality of life by treating patients as a whole not individual teeth.  We take into account patient preferences, values, cultural traditions and highly respect socioeconomic conditions.  This type of practice philosophy involves carefully evaluating specific patient needs and not treating each patient in the same manner by applying quality decision making strategies to provide the best possible outcomes for every single patient we see in our office.

TECHNOLOGY

Our practice is a paperless digital office.  We use innovative technologies which allows us to achieve a high level of clinical documentation that helps to communicate with patients and referrals about all aspects of endodontic treatment.

Our practice utilizes latest state-of-the-art, small volume cone-beam CT (computed tomography) that provides highly accurate, 3D radiographic images for the diagnosis, planning and treatment of endodontic disease.  This allows three-dimensional visualization of teeth, bone, sinuses and surrounding structures with minimal radiation to the patient, enabling a level of anatomical accuracy and patient care not possible with 2-D radiographs (regular dental x-rays).

The introduction of the surgical microscope has revolutionized the field of Endodontics.  The magnification and illumination utilized during 100% of our procedures is unparalleled and is critical for us to provide elite care.

RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY

All of our treatments are complete with the placement of the final restoration.  Personal experience as well as clinical research has shown that successful long-term outcomes are dependent on the timely manner of placement and quality of the final restoration after endodontic treatment.  The immediate placement of the restoration also eliminates salivary leakage into the decontaminated root canal systems together with preventing tooth fractures that are an inherent problem with temporary restorations after endodontic treatment.

FIRST VISIT

If you have not pre-registered online and would like to, please click here.

We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible.  If you have pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day.  If you have large swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, please report to the emergency room ASAP.

Your initial appointment can be scheduled as a consultation with or without treatment.  Most of our appointments are scheduled as a consultation with treatment but there are certain instances where an independent consultation might be necessary:

  • Increased anxiety and/or desire for oral sedation
  • Complex medical history
  • Inconclusive tests from referring doctor
  • No radiographs or incomplete patient history

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your referral slip if applicable
  • A list of medications you are taking if not listed with online registration
  • If you have dental insurance, please bring all the necessary documentation
  • A photo ID

IMPORTANT:

A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at the consultation visit.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.) or require medication prior to dental cleanings (i.e. antibiotics, for pre-med.)

All procedures will be performed using local anesthesia.  There are usually no restrictions after the procedure concerning driving or returning to work.

Continue all medications for medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems or any other conditions as recommended by your physician.  If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.

Please eat a normal breakfast or lunch prior to your appointment, especially if diabetic.

If you have been advised by your physician or dentist to use an antibiotic premedication because of mitral valve prolapse (MVP), heart murmur, joint replacement, cardiac or other prosthesis, or if you have rheumatic heart disease, please make sure you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment.  If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.

POST OPERATIVE TREATMENT

A complete report of your treatment will be sent to your general dentist.  Included in your treatment is a follow-up examination to evaluate the progress of healing.  This appointment will require only a few minutes and no additional fee will be charged for any future check-up visits.

Post-operative discomfort varies between patients; however, in general, patients that present for initial treatment with moderate to severe pain and/or swelling associated with pain are more likely to have discomfort after the procedure that can usually be managed with over the counter analgesics.

**The best regimen for pain is combining 400-600mg ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, etc) with 500mg acetaminophen (Tylenol) every 6-8h.**

That is typically 2-3 pills of ibuprofen and 1 acetaminophen at the same time
